Go sing it on a mountain my babe he's gone away Headed west to the Rockies gone first thing in the spring Although my heart is aching in comfort I will find Memories of your hands in mine How long 'til you're coming home? How long the days have been There'll be joy placed in my heart when you come back to me How long 'til you're coming home? Back where you belong The plains aren't the same without you here You are the one I want Don't worry babe I'll be back in the fall Plant your memories in the soil we'll see what will become Go sing it on a mountain keep writing all those songs Soon you'll be back in my arms How long 'til I'm coming home? How long the days have been My hands they are weary and my heart is wearing thin How long 'til I'm coming home? Back where I belong The northern winds are blowing strong You are the one I want Go sing it on a mountain one that's proud and tall Oh these hills of the prairies they're not like here at all Go sing it on a mountain lord I love you still Nothing's the same without you dear You are the one I want You are the one I want You are the one I want

These Plains 04:19
I've been working in the fields with a prayer on my back I've been hoping that the soil will someday make us rich No this freedom ain't free and if it be the death of me Making memories in this ground for better times a comin' Cause we've gone far and we've gone wide Travelled these plains for a hopes of a better life So don't you cry and don't you weep We've got each other now and that's all we need I've been working in the kitchen with a prayer on my breath Been slaving for nothing and I miss my old home land No this freedom ain't free and if it be the death of me Making memories in this home for better times a comin' Cause we've gone far and we've gone wide Travelled these plains for a hopes of a better life So don't you cry and don't you weep We've got each other now and that's all we need As the dawn creeps in the babe's are fast asleep I'll be by your side I won't say a word I won't say a thing But I love you 'til the day I die Cause we've gone far and we've gone wide Travelled these plains for a hopes of a better life So don't you cry and don't you weep We've got each other now and that's all we need We've got each other now and that's all we need

The man that I love he don't want me anymore His blue eyes have been haunting since he walked out that door He's gone and left me he's not coming back He's gone gone gone The girl that I love she don't want me anymore Her blue eyes have been haunting since she walked out that door She's gone and left me she ain't coming back She's gone gone gone If you bring the whiskey I'll bring the gin We'll waltz ourselves over and try to forget About the love that's gone and left us on those red rocky shores The sun's going down on the water If you bring the whiskey I'll bring the gin We'll waltz ourselves over and try to forget About the love that's gone and left us on those red rocky shores The sun's going down on the water

Sometimes I get a lonely Sometimes I get a little scared If you're feeling alone may the truth be heard and told That the clock's a tickin' on your numbered days Don't cry for me my sweet mother Don't cry for me don't you weep Your love will shine on and through all I've done wrong Keep it all for the sins I'll never tell Goodnight my sweet little baby Goodnight and may you sleep well I'm leaving godspeed first in the morning When the sun hits that first evening star

about

This collection of old-tyme inspired songs were recorded live in the loft of an old abandoned house in the prairies of rural Manitoba - Venlaw to be more specific, where Kayla grew up. Meant to capture a snapshot in time, Kayla Luky and Benjamin Hadaller breath life into the bare-bone songs with their acoustic instruments and harmonies, perfectly complimented by the drip of melting snow and the creaks of a forgotten house sighing in the winter wind.

about

Kayla Luky Grandview, Manitoba

Singer-songwriter Kayla Luky lives in Grandview, Manitoba, a small farming community nestled between the Riding and Duck Mountains. This unique setting gives her sound absolute authenticity.

Too country for country and too country for folk, her songs are soaked in alcohol, dirt and sorrow, honouring the roots of real country music.
